This week’s #FridayFind is a family secret
In the 1900 census (as seen in the first picture), Edward Liebrecht is reported as a widower, and his wife, Elizabeth (nee Holzhauser) dead. Yet, according to the 1920 census (as seen in the second picture), Elizabeth is still alive but a patient at the St. Louis Lunatic Asylum. This false reporting was likely due to shame and the stigma of having a family member in the asylum.
