Ellen Mays, M.A., MLIS


Ellen Mays is a highly experienced genealogist and reference librarian with a passion for history and genealogy research. She has extensive experience in conducting research in archives, libraries, government centers, and repositories in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and surrounding regions. Ellen has helped many clients with their genealogy research, including vital records searches and family tree editing.

With over 10 years of experience in the field of genealogy research, Ellen has developed a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this area. Her extensive experience has led her to be recognized as a leading expert in the field, as demonstrated by her presentation at the National Genealogical Society Conference in St. Charles, MO in May 2019. Her presentation, Finding the Meaning Behind Objects: Analyzing Artifacts for Genealogical and Family History Research, showcased her knowledge of the various library, archival, and historical research methods used for researching family heirloom artifacts.

Ellen holds an MLIS in Library and Information Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia, an M.A. in Public History, Heritage Education from Southeast Missouri State University, and a B.A. in History from William Jewell College. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in History from Liberty University. With her education and experience, Ellen is well-equipped to provide clients with the best possible genealogy research and reference services, making her an ideal choice for anyone looking to uncover their family history.
