Emma Prince, C.A., M.S

Emma is the founder of Backlog, a company she started in early 2021 after being laid off during the pandemic. Emma works directly with all Backlog clients to understand their unique needs and ensure the seamless execution of projects. Her entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with a passion for innovation, drives her commitment to delivering tailored solutions for archive and genealogy clients alike.

Emma holds a Master of Science degree from Simmons University in Boston, where she studied archival management. She also has an undergraduate degree in history with a minor in business administration, which has shaped her belief that understanding organizational history is an underutilized asset in many institutions, service organizations, and businesses.

Emma has a wealth of experience in the field of genealogy and archives. She did an internship at the National Archives, where she worked in the decontamination lab, and served as a genealogy reference assistant at St. Louis County Library's History and Genealogy department. With five years of experience as a university archivist at Maryville University, she has a proven track record of making archival materials useful and accessible to the university community. During her tenure, she expanded the archives, created interactive exhibits, and coordinated the digitization of 19,000 photographic slides. Her passion is to use history to benefit organizations and make archival collections a source of inspiration for fundraising and marketing campaigns.

Emma is also a member of the Landmarks Association’s Urbanites and the Young Friends Council of the Missouri Botanical Garden. With her passion for archival work, dedication to historical research, and extensive experience in both archival administration and business, Emma is an invaluable asset to any organization looking to preserve and share its history.
